Wild West Birthday Celebration


WILD WILD WEST!

It’s not just any old fashioned hoedown…this was a celebration of two big birthday’s; David’s 60th& Pattie’s 50th birthday BBQ.  This evening transported you back to the American western frontier and a bye gone era.  Causing all guests, cowboys, cowgirls, & law abiding citizens alike to strap up their boots and kick up them spurs.  The folk rock band “The Cadillacs” provided music that evening that added to the knee slapping, toe tapping, Two-Steppin’ shin-dig!

 
The party wouldn’t be complete without its Blacksmith façade which also served as the stage for the band.  

 

Seating areas included hay bales by the campfire, rocking chairs, blankets, and whiskey barrel tables. 

 

If sittin’ wasn’t your style, I wreckin’ you might belly up to the bar “partner”.  At the local Saloon the 12ft. rustic wooden bar with brass rails was the most popular spot of the night.  No water being served at this bar!  If you were lucky the bartender would give you a swig of his Tennessee White Whiskey.  Old vintage bottles lined the back of the bar and drinks were served in mason jars.

 

Past the watering hole and over the bend was the Covered Chuck Wagon , more hay, blankets, lanterns and lassos. This area was also used for additional seating and as a photo opp area for the guests. Other props included: feed bags, wash boards, milk cans, saddles & pine trees.

 
 

We tip our hats to David and Pattie.  WE at San Diego Event Décor are much obliged.  We had a rootin’ tootin’ time!

Our predictions for 2013

Trends 2013

1. Photo booth – the ever so popular, can’t do without, “it’s not a party till I step into a photo booth” TREND is still ever so popular. In 2013 it’s going to take a spin! Look for Garland Wall Backdrops and Balloon Walls. It’s not just for setting the scene of your themed event and adding a pizazz of color…. It can be used as the backdrop of your guest “Entrance” or behind your Wedding Cake or dessert display. Use it as a photo opp area! It’s perfect for those large groups of family or friends who can’t cram themselves into a 4x4 photo booth.

2. Sweethearts Tables- are also being re-vamped. Instead of the formality of a “Table for Two” for the Bride and Groom, create a more inviting experience for your guests by using lounge furniture. Create a small seating area where guests can visit & congratulate the new Mr. & Mrs. Since it’s such a special day think about putting your Sweethearts Lounge on a riser, and sit a bit higher than all the guests. Hey the new couple deserves to be “elevated”! It’s the best view in the house and all “eyes on you”. Don’t you agree?

 

3. Tasting Bars-Food Stations and Grazing Stations have a long lost twin. Introducing… the Tasting Bar! With all the elements of a party. Think mini plates and pairings of cocktails or craft beers. Similar to a Tapas Bar, Champagne Bar, Cheese Bar. Create your Tasting Bar at either bar height and with or without bar stools. Work with your caterer and San Diego Event Décor to design your food menu so that your theme or ”look” matches your unique Tasting Bar and Stools.

4. Ballerina Chair Caps- or chair covers caps are the delicate touch to a Wedding or Quinceañera. Don’t want to cover up a beautiful back and legs……of a Chiavari, Vintage Cross Back or Versailles Chair.
 

 

5. Themed Events- never ever loses its STYLE! Born in the 60’s, 70’s or 80’s and you might be hitting that “milestone” year. Celebrate the decade you were born. Themes are the way to go. Think about James Bond and the Aston Martin DB9 ….psychedelic patterned dance floor, glitter, glam, rich velour drape and food themes from that era. Create big lounge areas so guests can sit and sip on martinis or watch the go-go dancing on the platform above. If Bond isn’t your style ….join the Craft Cocktail Movement. San Diego Event Décor as the perfect décor pieces for your swanky speakeasy lounge. Whiskey barrels, hand-carved bars with brass rails, velvet swags. You chose…..Shaken or stirred?

Our Holiday Season 2012

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the Sempra offices….. Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse…

San Diego Event Décor had the pleasure of collaborating with Sempra Energy over the holiday season to create a vision of unity, faith and holiday spirit through diversity. Our journey to create the 12 diversity vignettes spanned many days and to 9 Sempra Energy locations across San Diego. Over 600 feet of garland and hundreds of ornaments were carefully placed alongside Christmas trees and holiday wreaths. Lobbies were transformed to incorporate beliefs from around the world including; Christianity, Buddhist philosophies, Islamic faith, Jewish traditions and Kwanzaa. What a pleasure it was to work with Sempra to honor and pay tribute to cultural beliefs from around the world.

Buddhist- Zen, Buddha, fountains, bamboo, pagodas & ornamental wooden screens. Bodhi Day (Enlightenment Day) honors the enlightenment of Siddhartha Gautama - the Buddha. Buddhists observe the importance of this day of the eighth of December. The day is observed in many ways, including prayer, meditation and teachings.


Christianity-The Nativity, Baby Jesus, the manger, Mary, Joseph & The Three Wise Men, Christmas Trees & Wreaths. Christians celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. The English word "Christmas" is derived from the old English Christes maesse, meaning "Christ's mass."


Judaism- Menorah, Dreidels, Star of David & Gelt. Hanukkah or Chanukah, is also known of as the "Festival of Lights" and is celebrated for 8 days. The festival is also celebrated with prayers and hymns. The oil used in potato pancakes or doughnuts is a reminder of the miraculous oil in the Temple.

Kwanzaa- A celebration of Unity of family, self-determination, collective work and responsibility, purpose, creativity, and faith. One of the traditions of Kwanzaa is to display fruit basket on the table to symbolize a plentiful harvest, straw mats, the seven candles, the "muhindi" or ear of corn, the unity cup, and the zawadi. The zawadi are the gifts, meant to be opened during the holiday.
 

Islam-Koran representing Islam's sacred text, prayer mat, lanterns, crescent moons and stars. The Islamic practices are defined by the Five Pillars of Islam: faith, prayer, fasting, pilgrimage and alms.

The Diversity Trees were 14 feet tall.  Each included photos of families of each faith and how each celebrates their holiday.  The trees were a unique representation of all the Sempra employees and ethnicities across the world.  We could not be more proud to design Sempra Energy's vision of Diversity, Unity and Peace!

San Diego Event Décor once again created a spectacular setting for the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce 141th Annual Dinner in the Town and Country Convention Center’s Grand Pavilion for its members.  The Chamber's Annual Dinner is one of San Diego's most established business traditions. The event brings a Who's Who of our region's business and government leaders together to one event, on one night, at one place. This is truly the networking event of the year with over 1,000 business and elected leaders in attendance

It is a once a year chance to embrace and celebrate our business community and honor leaders with awards based on outstanding performance and dedication to business.
The Annual Dinner featured the induction of the Chamber's 2012 Chairman of the Board, Mark Leslie, and the 2012 Board of Directors. The Spirit of San Diego, Courageous Leadership, and Regional Unity Awards were bestowed to individuals in the business community who have demonstrated the entrepreneurial and business spirit that is uniquely San Diego. San Diego Event Décor has been partnering up with the Chamber of Commerce for over 15 years and has enjoyed the chambers benefits and services  
This year, the Chamber allowed us to do something different than in the previous years; we love and appreciate the trust and support they have San Diego Event Decor! For this evening, we provided stage drape, stage décor, linen, chair covers and a variety of centerpieces. 18’ tall Royal Blue velour provided the background for the stage while white spandex panels added to the overall stage set. The dinner tables were divided by sponsorship levels with the Diamond Level having white Pin Tucked linen, white spandex chair covers and simple but elegant centerpieces of Calla lilies, Hydrangeas, Myrtle, and Sea Grass in an round glass vase. Meanwhile, the Sapphire tables had a Blue satin linen, matching blue satin chair covers and a white Asiatic Lilly centerpiece while the general attendants tables had white spider mum centerpieces on black linen.
